Social housing consultancy
As a small consultancy we are able to offer our clients a personal service. Our clients know that our work with them is one of only a small number of projects that we are working on at any one time and they receive our full attention.
We work with local authorities and housing associations with as few as twenty or so properties through to associations with over 10,000 properties.
We specialise in one off projects, service review and evaluation to improve efficiency. We are driven by the desire to provide a high quality service and we believe that the feedback from our customers reflects our success in achieving this (see Client Comments).
Primary Business Support specialises in consultancy to the social housing sector. In addition to numerous contracts to local authorities and the RSL sector we have worked as associates to others in the sector, including HouseMark, Baqus Boxall Sayer and The Escape. The PBS heritage
PBS was established in 2002 by Peter Bird following a 25 year career in social housing that saw him working in positions from front line, through management positions to reach the role of Director in a large LSVT association.
Peter has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing for many years. In 2002 his strategic skills were recognised when he was invited to become a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Objectivity is our key strength. Assisting you to take a fresh look at your organisation and its goals we go on to evaluate the mechanisms and structures in place to achieve them. With an analytical approach we are able to assist in the transformation of good organisations into excellent ones geared up to meet the demands placed on them by government, regulators and customers. We identify elements of good practice that can benefit clients, as well as those where significant cost savings can be realised.
We provide consultancy, support and interim management in a broad range of areas within the social housing sector. Consultancy work has included arrears recovery strategies, voids management, performance measurement and contract procurement (see Projects for more details). Interim Management has included an eleven month contract covering the responsibilities of the Assistant Chief Executive at a major LSVT association (see Interim Management for more details).
